This home owner was having to sqeegee off his back porch after every rain because the dip in the concrete allowed for standing water. Luckily we got a crew out to him and leveled the slab with poly while still maintaining enough slope to run water away from the base of his home.

Job Stories From Pfafftown, NC
Flooded and Littered Basement in Pfafftown, NC

A homeowner in Pfafftown, NC reached out to our team at Carolina Basement Systems with concerns regarding his basement. The area had experienced regular issues with flooding for years and old fiberglass insulation had fallen from the ceilings - creating a very damp, musty, and dirty environment throughout. These types of conditions can lead to mold, mildew, increased energy bills, and more. No one wants to deal with these types of issues, but we solve problems like this every day. Good thing this homeowner contacted the local waterproofing professionals.

TJ, one of our knowledgeable inspectors, went out to perform a thorough investigation of the area. TJ then sat down with the homeowner to educate him on what was happening in his basement, why these issues occur, and what solutions are available within his desired budget. After a plan of action was agreed upon, JC and his crew got to work! First, they removed all debris and fallen fiberglass insulation. Next, they added a TripleSafe sump pump and an UltraSump pump system to the two low-lying areas of the basement floor to eliminate any chance of basement flooding in the future. A TrafficDrain was added along the doorway to capture surface water at the entryway, and our interior subfloor drainage system was installed along the perimeter of the basement where the floor and wall meet to capture water at its entry point - before it ever has the chance to reach the basement floors. The walls were wrapped in our ultra-durable CleanSpace wall system to seal, cover, and protect from any moisture, humidity, or cold drafts. To ensure drier and healthier air throughout, we added our energy-efficient SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and air purification system. Lastly, buried downspouts with our patented LawnScape outlets were installed to the sump pump and gutter discharge lines to prevent water from dumping directly onto the foundation of the home - keeping the surrounding soils strong and dry.

Another happy customer and another dry basement thanks to Carolina Basement Systems!

Casey, one of our knowledgeable inspectors, went out to perform a thorough investigation. Casey then sat down with the homeowner to educate him on what was happening in his crawl space, why it occurs, and what solutions are available within his desired budget. After a plan of action was agreed upon, JC and his crew got to work! They began this crawl space project by cleaning out all debris and fallen insulation. Next, they worked on isolating the crawl space from the earth for the most effective humidity control. All vents were sealed, drainage matting was laid out, and the entire crawl space was encapsulated with the ultra-durable CleanSpace vapor barrier. Lastly, the crew installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and air purification system. Our SaniDry is designed to prevent mold growth and eliminate musty odors - providing healthy dry air throughout.

Matt, one of our knowledgeable inspectors, went out to perform a thorough investigation of the home. Matt then sat down with the homeowner to educate him on what was happening in the crawl space, why is occurs, and what solutions are available. After a plan of action was agreed upon, Juan Carlos and his crew got to work. They permanently stabilized the home's foundation with the SmartJack system. These high-capacity and fully-adjustable steel piers are specially designed to not only stop sagging floors in their tracks, but they can also lift the floors back to their original position. The crawl space was then protected with a CleanSpace encapsulation system complete with a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and air purifier, and a TripleSafe sump pump with a battery-powered pump for protection against flooding during a power outage.

Crawl Space Waterproofing in Pfafftown, NC

A homeowner in Pfafftown, NC reached out to Carolina Basement Systems with concerns regarding his crawl space. It was quite damp and humid with bad musty odors. Good thing this homeowner contacted the local waterproofing experts!

One of our knowledgeable inspectors went out and performed a thorough investigation of the crawl space. He then sat down with the homeowner to educate him on what was happening, why it occurs, and what solutions are available. After a plan of action was agreed upon, our crew went to work. They installed a CleanSpace encapsulation complete with drainage matting and sealed vents to control humidity and separate the home from the earth. SilverGlo insulation was added to the walls. This graphite impregnated insulation had a built-in radiant heat barrier and when installed on crawl space walls, provides an unbroken sheet of R-11 insulation to the home. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and air purifier was hooked up to eliminate musty odors and prevent mold growth. Lastly, the new dry and clean crawl space was sealed off with an indestructible EverLast door. Made from PVC plastic, this airtight and watertight door seals off the crawl space from winter drafts, rain water, and any unwanted critters.

Basement Waterproofing & Wall Repair in Pfafftown, NC

A homeowner in Pfafftown, NC contacted us with concerns about her wet basement. She claimed her basement had been damp since she first bought her home, over 30 years ago, but recently the state of things had gotten much worse. There was water running right into the basement and a giant crack had appeared starting at the front side of the house and running all the way down into the basement. A wet basement can be a nightmare for any homeowner! Moisture from a basement can ruin a home's floors, walls, and even roofing. It can also invite other problems such a mold, mildew, wood rot, musty air, and health problems.

Fortunately for this customer, she contacted the basement professionals at Carolina Basement Systems! Our expert team installed Geo-Lock wall anchors to permanently stabilize the foundation walls. This wall repair system not only stops any further structural damage, but in most cases Geo-Lock anchors can straighten walls back to their original position. To divert water away from the foundation, we installed buried downspouts and a LawnScape discharge line outlet system. A WaterGuard sub-floor drainage structure was installed to capture water seepage and leaks at the first point of entry - before it even has the chance to enter the basement. A CleanSpace wall system was added to protect the basement walls from any potential seepage. This inexpensive, waterproof, and stain resistant material is one of the most effective moisture vapor barriers to exist. We finished off this basement project by adding the high-performance SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and filtration system. The Sedona prevents mold and reduces musty odors, providing the homeowner with the comfort of having dry healthy air.

With the walls permanently secured and basement dry and encapsulated, our job here was done!

Pfafftown, NC Crawl Space Repair

When Toni from Pfafftown, NC contacted Carolina Basement Systems, he was in need of assistance with crawl space repair. He had seen the company advertised on Facebook and decided to reach out for help. After hearing about the problem Toni was experiencing, the company decided that the best solution would be to encapsulate the crawl space. This would involve putting a vapor barrier on the ground, sealing the walls, and installing a dehumidifier. Carolina Basement Systems offers free estimates, so Toni decided to take them up on their offer.

Pfafftown, NC Basement Interior Waterproofing

There were a lot of items in storage in this home’s basement. There was also a growing leakage problem. Efflorescence could be found on most walls of the basement and made stored items at risk of water damage.

We installed our non-intrusive perimeter waterproofing system under the floor of the basement and ran the drainage to a sump pump. This system catches water before it enters the basement and pumps it outside away from the home.

The homeowners knew they needed this to keep the basement safe and dry. So, they were very happy with the finished results.

Leveling Concrete Sidewalk in Pfafftown, NC

Overtime, ground settlement and water runoff had shifted this concrete walkway. The dips and angles were causing it to be impractical and a dangerous trip hazard.

We drilled holes in the concrete and pumped PolyLevel underneath the concrete to fill the voids underneath. Once the vacant areas under the concrete had been filled, the concrete was level and back in place. Also, it is stabilized and protected from further settlement. The last step was to seal the cracks with NexusPro which waterproofs and binds the sidewalk together.

The homeowners were so happy to have a useable and aesthetically pleasing concrete walkway.

Concrete Slab Lift in Pfafftown, NC

The homeowner on this job, Len, told us he had bought his 50-year-old home after being assured that there was no possibility of leakage issues. Imagine his surprise to find standing water at the base of his home after a heavy rain with a squeegee nearby. The concrete slab porch had sunk in the middle where the ground beneath it had settled and allowed water to rest against the house causing water damage and leakage into the basement.

After having to squeegee off his back porch after every major rain for two and a half years, Len had had enough. So, He contacted us to set up an appointment for a free estimate.

We got an estimate to him and were then able to get a two-man crew out to fix the problem. Our crew, Matt and Nick drilled holes into the concrete porch and strategically pumped polyurethane into them to fill out the sunken areas to lift it up so it would prevent leaking into the basement. They used levels to help judge how much the concrete had lifted to properly slope away from the home to keep water from the base of the house in the future. Matt and Nick were able to lift the porch, patch the holes, re-caulk, and clean up the area in under two hours.

Throughout the job Matt, a Team Leader, made sure to explain every step of the process to Len and get his feedback to make sure he understood and approved as the job progressed. The homeowner was skeptical that it would work at first, but once he saw the slab lift back into place along the original pour line he was impressed and thrilled to not have to worry every time it rains.

I have a wet basement (in a one-level brick ranch house built in late 1950s) along the outer edge of the walls, water leaking up from just below the ground level at one corner. House has an unfinished basement on a slab and cinderblock walls, making it easy to see the problem. This property sits just above the natural water line (you can see this by looking into the old well, house currently on city water/sewer) and tends to have a wet backyard temporarily after a hard rain. Also, the basement is completely empty. I own the house, it is a rental property but it is vacant right now. This started about 4 years ago after hard rains, and it dries up later. This is the first time I've been able to see the leak myself during and after a rain. I need an experienced voice to tell me what needs to be done to fix it.
