PowerBrace System
The PowerBrace Foundation Wall Repair System uses steel I-beams to stabilize and straighten bowed or leaning foundation walls. It is adjustable and non-invasive, requiring no excavation.
How PowerBrace Works
The PowerBrace system stabilizes foundation walls using steel I-beams anchored to the floor joists and concrete floor. This setup counteracts wall movement and allows for gradual straightening over time.
Before PowerBrace
Hydrostatic pressure occurs when water accumulates in the soil around a foundation, exerting force against the walls. This pressure caused cracks, bowing, and shifting in the foundation walls, leading to structural damage.
Outside Foundation Wall
To help eliminate hydrostatic pressure against the foundation walls, installing a proper drainage system around the foundation with gutters, downspouts, and french drains will help direct water away from the foundation.
Temporary Solution
The homeowner used wooden beams to temporarily stabilize the foundation wall. While this can provide some immediate support, it is not a long-term solution because wood can rot, warp, or weaken over time, especially in damp conditions. Additionally, wooden beams do not offer the same level of structural integrity and adjustability as steel systems like PowerBrace, which are designed for permanent stabilization and can be adjusted to straighten the wall over time.
