Damaged Insulation Inside Crawl Space
Wall insulation, when pressed into the floor joists of a crawl space, sags overtime. This hurts the insulations effectiveness and when it gets wet it shreds and creates debris for critters to nest in.
Musty Crawl Space Air and Floor
The plastic barrier in this crawl space does not do a great job at keeping moisture out, as it still leaves the block wall and supports exposed. This barrier will also rip overtime and collect debris from other unprotected areas.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
Sealing off a crawl space and treating it like part of the home is the best way to protect it. The first step in this process for this home was a vapor barrier. With the old debris and insulation cleaned out, the new CleanSpace vapor barrier can better protect the crawl space's humidity and stay cleaner longer.
Wrapping Interior Supports
In addition to running CleanSpace vapor barrier along the block walls it is also best to wrap it up interior supports. Water and water vapor will find any way possible into crawl spaces, so the best way to drive the humidity down inside this crawl space was to wrap everything that has contact with the ground or the outside air in our vapor barrier.
