Crawl Space Encapsulation Ride Along
A homeowner in Winston Salem, NC reached out to Carolina Basement Systems with concerns regarding his home's crawl space. He noticed an excessive amount of moisture was seeping inside of the area - creating a humid and musty environment. These types of conditions within a crawl space can lead to serious issues such as mold, mildew, allergens, foundation failure, high energy bills, and much more. No one wants to deal with these types of concerns, but we solve problems like this every day. Good thing this homeowner contacted the local crawl space experts!
Our experienced crew: Elias, Matt, and Daniel got right to work on isolating this crawl space with our encapsulation system featuring many of our top-quality patented products such as: CleanSpace vapor barrier, SilverGlo insulation, SaniDry Sedona, and more!
First step to this job was to clean up all debris, remove all the of fallen fiberglass insulation, and seal off vents. After the area was clean and the openings were sealed, the crew installed SilverGlo insulation to the crawl space walls. This graphite impregnated composition features a built in radiant heat barrier surface and once installed, it provides an unbroken sheet of R-11 insulation to the area. Its waterproof materials won't ever hold onto moisture and actually act as a vapor barrier to the crawl space walls.
Next, drainage matting was laid out along the floor. Our dimpled drainage matting goes underneath the vapor barrier to divert any collected water from sitting along the foundation. Its designed to direct water to the nearest interior drainage system or sump pump.
Then, our ultra-durable CleanSpace vapor barrier in installed around all remaining exposed areas - floors, piers, and walls. Made from a 20mil thick, 7-layer polyethylene composition, our CleanSpace is the strongest vapor barrier on the market. Once installed, it seals, covers and protects the area from any moisture, humidity, or winter drafts - creating a bright, dry, and healthy crawl space environment!
Our UltraSump pump system with battery backup was added to in the lowest corner of the crawl space to protect against flooding - even during a power outage! Our UltraSump can remove up to 12,000 gallons of water on a fully-charged battery. It features an automatic switch and alarm system to alert once the backup pump has turned on.
The world's most energy efficient dehumidifier and air purification system, our SaniDry Sedona, was installed to eliminate musty odors, prevent mold, and provide healthy dry air throughout the crawl space environment! Our energy star rated SaniDry Sedona can take up to 100 pints of of water per day while only using the same amount of energy as a 40 pint dehumidifier.
Lastly, to seal up this newly protected and dry crawl space, the crew installed our indestructible EverLast crawl space door. Made from PVC plastic, this door will never crack, warp, or require maintenance. Its airtight and watertight design prevents insects, critters, moisture, humidity, and winter drafts from ever penetrating the crawl space entrance.
Another happy customer and another healthy crawl space thanks to Carolina Basement Systems!
